About Tanja

Tanja Mitton is a leading equestrian mindset coach, author, and motivational speaker. Originally from Germany, she has spent more than two decades in Australia working with riders at every level of the sport. Tanja combines her passion for horses with her expertise as a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) master coach, creating a unique program of rider coaching that addresses the mental side of horsemanship as much as the physical.

Career and Experience

With over 25 years in the equestrian world, Tanja has worked with riders across disciplines, from grassroots competitors to Olympians. Her clients value her ability to identify the mental habits and beliefs that hold them back, and to provide strategies that transform how they think, ride, and perform. She has been a mindset coach for the Australian High Performance Dressage Squad and has published books on confidence and rider mindset.

Training Philosophy

Tanja believes that a rider’s mindset is as important as their technical skills. Her philosophy includes:

  • Helping riders replace fear and self-doubt with confidence and focus
  • Teaching practical mental strategies to handle pressure and competition nerves
  • Encouraging a positive, growth-oriented approach to training and performance
  • Strengthening the horse-rider partnership by reducing tension and creating harmony

What Tanja Offers

Tanja delivers her coaching through multiple formats:

  • Clinics and workshops across Australia, combining mounted sessions with mental coaching
  • Private mindset coaching both in person and online
  • Keynote presentations and seminars at major equestrian events
  • Books and online resources to support riders beyond the arena

Legacy and Impact

Tanja Mitton has become one of Australia’s most influential voices in equestrian mindset coaching. Her programs empower riders to unlock their full potential, not only improving competition results but also deepening their enjoyment of riding. By addressing the mental side of horsemanship, she continues to transform how riders connect with their horses and themselves.
